We have been investigating about translating on several websites with very different contents. However, we have chosen these as the most interesting ones because they can help us in our degree in the university and in a future.
- European Society for Transaltion Studies (http://www.ers-translationstudies.org). It is a website where we can see a side of sources in which can watch interviews to scholars and professionals, listen conferences, and read journals, online bibliographies and researching tools.
- ASETRAD (http://www.asetrad.org). Within it there are plenty of links, but the most important is “El cuaderno de Bitácora” (http://www.elcuadernodebitacora.org): we can find blogs, dictionaries, glossaries on Biology, Science, Law, Pharmacy, or Medicine; and online directories related to the same disciplines.
- El atril del traductor (http://cvc.cervantes.es/aula/el_atril/ingles/). In this link we can find two utilities: practices and tips. These two sections are called: Taller virtual de traduccion y aula de practicas de traduccion. In the part of practising we can see some sentences in English for us to translate into Spanish and then you can find them corrected. In the second section, taller virtual de traduccion you can find some tips and commentaries from professionals and students of this area.
- Translation Directory (http://www.translationdirectory.com). In this web you can find some links that drive you to glossaries, dictionaries and translators for free. The best part is the section of glossaries because you can find a big list about some thematic areas some of them quite specific with the most used words, the most common ones, their explanation and if you have more doubts you have links of diccionaries, translators…This link it is not only to find some words, you have a section called: Online Directory where you can find links of blogs, more translators, tools, journals, some other’s people work… everything you could need. This is one of the most complete links.
- Interactive Terminology for Europe (http://iate.europe.eu). In this one, we can find a dictionary with a variety of languages in which we can translate words, several simultaneously of different topics, like geographical, economical, political or social. The website also shows us the meaning of this term in each language and saves the last ten searched words.
- Institute of Linguists (http://www.iol.org.uk). This link counts with an interesting job bureau. There you can find some offers to work as a translator. They also give resources to achieve some certificates and exams.
